Crispy Potatoes

Updated: Jun 2, 2023

We can all agree that potatoes is the best food out there. They can be made into chips, fries, baked potatoes, Fries, latkes, FRIES! As you can tell I really like fries. However, sometimes you can't just hop into the nearest McDonald's drive through. As I was scrolling TikTok, as one does, I found this delicious crispy potatoes recipe that I just had to try out. It was made by @franziee v and they are a great alternative to fries! I did put my own spin on this and changed the seasonings and instead of deep frying them, I air fried them (which makes them even healthier!). Another plus side to these potatoes is that you know exactly what's going into them! Are you 100% sure that McDonald's isn't adding some secret chemicals into your fries? Well, you can be positive that these potatoes don't have any! By the way, these are a great snack to share with two! Ok, enough rambling, it's time to make some crispy potatoes!

Step 1: Peel and wash three potatoes. I recommend peeling a little bit then rinsing the potato and then continuing peeling. For some reason, when I was peeling the potatoes and I did that, it made the process sooooo much easier for me.

Step 2: Chop off the ends. This makes the potatoes be more uniform in shape by the end.

Step 3: Cut 3 to 4 slices per potato. I preferred mine thicker so I did 3 slices.

Step 4: Cut vertically. But not all the way down! We don't want them to fall apart!

Step 5: Cut diagonally. Make sure you flip the potatoes AND don't cut all the way down! I made the mistake of not flipping for some of them and some of them fell apart.

Step 6: Preheat air fryer to 350 degrees/medium heat. You can also use a deep fryer or an oven.

Step 7: While it's preheating, make some sauce! You can use whichever sauce you like! I made mine with ketchup and mayonnaise. I also topped it with parsley.

Step 8: Once its done preheating, drizzle the air fryer with oil and put the potatoes in. Make sure none of the potatoes are overlapping.

Step 9: Cook for 15 - 30 minutes. I originally put it in for 15 minutes but it wasn't as crispy as I liked so I put it in for an extra 10 minutes. It's up to your personal preference.

Step 10: Once its done cooking drizzle with more oil and top with salt. The oil will allow the salt to stick on the potatoes.

Step 11: Put on a plate and top with parsley.

Step 12: Enjoy!
